parable 1

i like dystopias, and i like how this class has been shaping up to be so far. do i have a lot of inspiration for our structure, or how things are going to crack once we get going? maybe not a ton, because uni doesn't have too much academic spirit right now, and we can kind of collapse when left to our own devices as individual students. especially online. but who knows? we might surprise me.

 i don't really want to talk about the book itself a ton in this blog post, moreso the setting. 2024 is not that far, isn't it? which is kind of funny, kind of odd, kind of sad in many ways. i don't know. sometimes you look back in fiction that predicts where we would be now, and you feel kind of sad, because it did not end up like that at all. i wonder if i'll have the same reaction with this book, or be glad i'm not adjacent to this 2024.
