parable 2

never mind! maybe i much prefer our world. the thing with utopias and dystopias and everything in between is that it's always unsettling, to me, how things can seem so off. there can be a little crack in the porcelain armor that tears it all up. i don't like that. i like living in a world where what you see is what you get. this nation's cardinal sin has been known to us in the form of blatant oppression for many years-- if that was hidden behind a perfectly fine facade, that would be even more terrifying. although, we do see that parable has an interest in engaging with matters of race and otherwise. so we'll see, as the curtain pulls back, how unsettling it truly becomes.

  1. Hahaha, agreed. I wonder, really, which is worse: oppression under a nice facade, or oppression that is blatant. In a way, blatant oppression might suggest that those in power are so powerful they don't think insurgence is possible at all. They aren't even hiding the fact that their goal is oppression, and they assume the people will go along with it -- because many people do. On the other hand, hidden oppression allows people to live in denial.
